Frequently Asked Questions
- What is ID Photo Size?
- A free tool that crops, resizes, and compresses photos to official passport, visa, and ID dimensions. No data is uploaded — everything runs on your device.
- Is it really free?
- Yes, completely free with no hidden costs, watermarks, or sign-ups.
- Do you store my photos?
- No. Your photos are processed entirely on your device and never leave it.
- What photo formats are supported?
- You can upload JPEG, PNG, and WebP images. Output can be saved as JPEG, PNG, or WebP.
- Can I remove the background from my photo?
- Yes. The tool includes AI-powered background removal that runs on your device. You can replace the background with white or any colour.
- What does the Auto Ready button do?
- Auto Ready appears in the editor toolbar once a face is detected in your photo. Tap it for a one-step pipeline — face centering, straightening to your eye line, crop, and background removal, all automatic. You can watch each step complete in real time before the final result appears.
- How do I know which size to use?
- Select your document type from the photo size menu (e.g. US Passport, Schengen Visa). The tool automatically sets the correct dimensions.
- Can I print multiple copies on one sheet?
- Yes. Use the Print Layout feature to tile multiple copies onto A4 or US Letter paper, then save the image or print directly.
- Does face detection work on all browsers?
- Yes. Face detection uses a lightweight AI model that works in all modern browsers. It loads on demand when you use the Centre Face feature.
- What if I need a size not in the list?
- Choose "Custom size" and enter your own width, height, and DPI values in millimetres, centimetres, inches, or pixels.
- Can I use photos taken on my phone?
- Absolutely. Just upload the photo from your phone’s gallery. The tool handles cropping and resizing to the exact dimensions required.
- Face detection isn’t working on my photo — any tips?
- Face detection works best when the face fills a good portion of the frame. If your photo is a full-body or long shot with the face far away, try this: manually zoom in on the face using the crop editor, click Apply, then choose Edit → Current Photo. The editor will restart with your zoomed crop as the new source image, and face detection will work on the much closer face.
- Something isn’t working. How do I fix it?
- First, try the built-in reset: click the tagline ("Free passport & ID photo resizer") just below the logo. This clears your saved preferences and reloads the app. If the problem persists — for example the AI model is stuck or not loading — you can also clear your browser’s cached files: in your browser settings (not the app), go to Privacy → Clear browsing data, select "Cached images and files", and reload. This forces the AI model to be re-downloaded.
